Are You Ready to Meet Allah? & Why Calamities Befall Us? Intro Nasheed

The wisdom of Allah concerning not only calamities, but all things around us that we see and don’t see are reserved in the knowledge of the ghrayb (unseen) that only Allah has knowledge of, and that we cannot comprehend in its entirety. Allah does explain things to us through the Holy Quran, and the Sunnah of his blessed prophet Mohammed peace be upon him. Concerning the wisdom of why there is so much pain and suffering in the world, and why calamities befall innocent people, for seemingly no reason, Allah explains to us a few things. Calamities befall us for many reasons, and I will touch upon two of them for now. Namely,

1. Calamities befall us directly as a test, as a reminder, and in a show of Allah’s utmost Mercy, as a means of cleansing our sins. As a means of erasing our bad deeds. The prophet peace be upon him said: “all the affairs of a believer are good. If blessings is bestowed upon them they are grateful, and that is best for them. And if calamity befalls them they are patient. And that is best for them.” He says in another place: “The believing man or woman continues to have affliction in person, property and children so that they may finally meet Allah, free from sin.” (Tirmidhi). He Also, said: “No calamity befalls a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even though it were the prick he receives from a thorn.” (Bukhari). Regarding the tests, Allah says {Do people think that they will be left to say “We believe” and that they will not be tested? We did test those before them and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false.} (29:2-3)
Allah also says: {Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil); but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere.} (2:155)
Allah’s messenger tells us about what Allah has said regarding the loss of a loved one: “I have no reward other than paradise for a believing slave of mine who remains patient for My sake when I take away his beloved one from among the inhabitants of the world.” (Bukhari)

2. Calamities befall others and are made knows to us so that we may heed Allah’s warnings. They come as a reminder to us so that if we are far off of the path towards Allah that we hasten to get back on track in the right direction, with the right focus on Allah and his beautiful, perfect religion. Allah says in this regard: {We have made some of you as a trial for others: will ye have patience? For Allah is One Who sees (all things).} (25:20)

The last point is where I want to remind myself and our listeners about not loosing opertunities. We really should not waste such oppertunities that Allah provides us with as reminders, less we become the reminder to other at a time when we are not ready to be.

You are saying, I belong to Allah as a servant and I am going to return to Him. So whoever knows that he belongs to Allah as a servant and that he will return to him, then he should know that he will be stopped. And whoever knows that he will be stopped, then he should know that he will be questioned. And whoever knows that he will be questioned, then let him prepare an answer for the question.”

What if Ahmadinejad Really Won?
They pointed out that their opinion poll, carried out between May 11 and May 20, “showed Ahmadinejad leading by a more than 2 to 1 margin—greater than his actual apparent margin of victory in Friday’s election.”
The two specifically rebutted claims by Mousavi supporters that the fact that as an ethnic Azeri he failed to win a larger share of the Azeri vote proved that the totals were rigged. The poll, they said, showed that Azeris also favored Ahmadinejad 2 to 1 over Mousavi.
“The only demographic groups in which our survey found Mousavi leading or competitive with Ahmadinejad were university students and graduates, and the highest-income Iranians,” they wrote.
They also noted that, while the media had cast younger Iranians using the Internet as the heart of the anticipated “reform” surge—NBC News called the protests an “Internet uprising”—the poll showed that “only a third of Iranians even have access to the Internet.”
It is this class divide that is largely ignored by the Western media. Mousavi’s so-called reforms were pitched largely to a relatively privileged and narrow social base. The reforms themselves consisted essentially of a toning down of the rhetoric employed by Ahmadinejad in order to smooth the way to improved relations with Washington, an easing of US-backed sanctions and the opening up of the country to foreign capital. At the same time, they were identified with “free market” capitalism and opposition to the social assistance programs for the working class and rural poor. Such austerity measures hardly served as a pole of attraction for these layers, which constitute the majority of the Iranian population.
For his part, Ahmadinejad utilized these programs—combined with populist demagogy and appeals to religious piety—to maintain a popular base for the regime.
Lionized by the Western press, Mousavi is an unlikely champion of “reform.” During the period he held the post of prime minister—1981-1989—he presided over mass executions of political dissidents, many of them leftists, as well as the Iran-Iraq War, in which Iran suffered a million casualties, dead and wounded.

This Month, the MAC Give Committee welcomes volunteers to the City of Ottawa Tree Garden, whereby hundreds of trees will be distributed to the public and organizations for planting later on this spring! The City of Ottawa has set a goal of planting 100,000 trees between 2007 and 2010 through the Tree, Reforestation and Environmental Enhancement (TREE) Program’s Community TREE Planting Grant Program. However the goal cannot be achieved without the help of volunteers.

What better volunteers are there that do it for the sake of Allah (swt)?
What: Tree Distribution Event.
Work will consist of directing residents where to go, assisting staff with loading potted trees into vehicles, and distributing planting information.
